7 Entrepreneurial Reasons to Buy a Drone

Even though the laws are pretty murky, and most commercial uses of drones are outlawed for now, there is no denying the economic impact drones will soon have. According to a study by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the drone industry in the U.S. could produce up to 100,000 new jobs and add $82 billion in economic activity between 2015 and 2025.

Here are 7 entrepreneurial reasons to buy a drone and get in on the madness early.

1.) Pizza Delivery

Maybe the most obvious and the most brilliant use of drones yet, Dominos is spearheading food delivery using drones, and lazy college kids everywhere will soon be reaping the benefits.

Nothing secures good karma like passing on a free pizza to others, so the next chance you get, knock one of these flying pizzas out of the sky… 30 minutes or less, right Dominos?!

2.) Extreme Sports Can Be Way More Extreme

A lot of extreme sports are fast and usually get air-born at some point. Skiing, snowboarding, motocross, cliff jumping, etc. Filming these epic feats of courage with a drone can set your production company apart from the competition.

On a somewhat related note, check out these damn kids having a blast cliff jumping while their DJI Phantom 2 captures it.

3.) Aerial Photography

entrepreneurial-reasons-buy-droneSo right now you’re one of those land lubbin photographers looking so set yourself apart from the pack, huh? Well drones are the perfect vehicle to do just that. The good folks over at National Geographic recommend that aerial photographers get started using either the DJI Phantom 1 or the DJI Phantom 2 Vision+. They must know what they are talking about, because these drones are our favorite as well.

4.) Drones Can Help Journalists Get Necessary Footage Without Dying

From natural disasters to riots, journalists have to risk their necks to get the footage they need. It’s a part the job, and it’s accepted by those in the field. However, the aerial capabilities of drones can eliminate many dangerous situations while also providing new and normally unobtainable vantage points.

Check out the footage of this riot, probably somewhere in Eastern Europe, where a drone captures this communist debacle from a safe distance. Also, enjoy the great “Danger Zone” plug.

Stay tuned for our upcoming post on which accessories to use to take your aerial photography to the next level and soar above the competition.

5.) Drones Can Help Farmers be More Productive and Less Harmful

Since farmers must maintain vast plots of land, analyzing irrigation systems and growth patterns can be tricky. Thanks to the bird’s eye view that drones can provide, irrigation systems and growth patterns can be surveyed much easier.

But wait! There’s more. Drones can also help save the environment from pesticides. When equipped with specialized infrared cameras, drones are able to detect exactly which plants need pesticides and which plants don’t, thus eliminating excess pesticide use. There you go PETA!

6.) Drones Can Help You Construct Things Like Buildings?

I don’t know how many times we’ve said this, but the Swiss are at it again. Over in Zurich, Swiss researchers are beginning to experiment with drones in construction projects. Not really sure what the Swiss are up to in this arena, looks like some sort of scaffolding experiment, so we’d appreciate any input on what is exactly happening here. But it is definitely

7.) Real Estate Agents Can Give Prospective Buyers a Better View

Even though this is kind of pointless due to the fact that most home owners don’t hover over their homes very often, drones can provide a cool view of houses on the market.
